    WHAT HAPPENED?

The Spaniard has suffered a fair few injuries this season as the Gunners' performances have fallen off compared to last season and the Brazilian striker and Ukrainian fullback were the latest to fall. However, Arteta refused to provide injury updates for the two but provided a positive update to Jurrien Timber's ACL recovery.

  • WHAT ARTETA SAID

When talking to the press, the Spaniard said [via football.london]: “Zinchenko and Jesus? We still have a few on that list that we have unfortunately not been able to get back. Individually I’m not going to tell you exactly how everyone is."

"There is a possibility," he said when asked if Timber will play again. "But at the moment he’s still really far from competing and that’s the realistic picture of it. We’re hopeful that he can have an impact at the end of the season if everything goes well there looks like a chance that can happen but I think it’s too early to make that call."

    THE BIGGER PICTURE

If Zinchenko is unavailable, Jakub Kiwior will probably start at left-back once more. After being replaced at halftime in west London, he has been under criticism following his starts in the matches against Fulham and Liverpool. The Gunners currently sit in fourth place in the league and are five points behind Liverpool.

  • WHAT NEXT?

The Spaniard's men will take on Crystal Palace at the Emirates Stadium on January 20 in hopes of going through into second place if the results go in their favour.
